Over the years many new parts of the world have been able to obtain means of aircraft travel creating the need for MRO services. With all new required services, they are the many airlines have been able to capitalize on the idea. From previously only manufacturing parts OEMs have begun to venture off into the MRO industry to gain a new source of profit. Sources say that with the rise continuing to occur the market is expected to be worth over 95 Billion US by the year 2023. In the year 2013 it was recorded that the OEMs gained 50 % of their revenue from only manufacturing while the other half came from MRO services.
MRO companies have begun to work with other smaller MRO companies and relocate inside of Airline facilities to expand their line of work for these private entities. One Airline that has many MRO companies working for them is Asia Pacific. Asia Pacific has been working with HAECO, GMF AeroAsia, and ST Aerospace MRO companies.
Pratt and Whitney is a prime example of manufactures that have become MRO service companies. P&W have established their name in creating and manufacturing engines but have begun to use their resources for MRO services.
One area that has benefited greatly from the uprising of MRO services is the greater Asia area. Companies such as Indigo, Tigerair Singapore, Tigerair Australia, and Air Asia have been airlines to take advantage of these this newer market.
The US has also been able to take advantage of the MRO companies in Asia. The US has sent much of its MRO services to Asia for cheaper labor costs.
The MRO services industry has expanded tremendously to be able to include tier II and tier III suppliers.
